Abstract
During the last year, from April, 1978 to March, 1979, fifty cases were treated by oral methotrexate, respectively.
Authors evaluated the clinical effectiveness and toxicity of methotrexate by liver function test and WBC count.
Of the psoriatics, there were 27 men and 23 women Primary manifestation appeared in age from 8 to 56. Peak incidence showed in the 3rd to 5th decades. The methotrexate was administrated orally, 5 mg daily, for 3 to 5 days, with the resting period of 2 to 4 days by thee patients condition.
The remission started 1 to 2 weeks later in 42 cases, and complete clearing of lesions noted within 2 to 3 weeks in 43 cases.
The toxicity of methotrexate;

2) Among 50 cases, the level of SGOT and SGPT, T.T.T. were checked in 25 cases, and abnormal level of SGOT. was seen in 4 cases.
2 cases showed abnormal level of SGPT, and one case showed abnormal level of T.T.T. after administration of methotrexate. In many references the effect and toxicity of meth-otrexate were discussed, but their views were not uniform and variable. Recently therapeutic dosage for psoriasis had no problem, but large amount of cumulative dose and large dosage were problemed for damage to parenchymes of liver and kidneys. But. methotrexate affects the function of the liver and kidney, so careful evaluations were needed to psoriasis for administration of methotrexate.
